After eight years at the helm in Piedmont, Beach Elementary Principal Michael Corritone will be leaving for a position as principal at Indian Valley Elementary School in the Walnut Creek School District.
Corritone’s last day at Beach will be determined as “details of the transition get worked through for both PUSD and Walnut Creek.” In an email Monday he said that he “fully expect[s] to open the school year at Beach.”
From Corritone’s email:
I recognize the timing of this news is not the best. This was an unexpected opportunity for both myself and Walnut Creek. Looking ahead, district leadership will be communicating with the community about next steps for seeking new leadership for Beach.
It has been such an honor and privilege for me to be the principal of Beach the past eight years and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to support the learning and well-being of our students.
District Interim Superintendent Donald Evans also shared the news with the community via email Monday, and provided more detail on the timing of Corritone’s departure and the transition to a new principal:
On behalf of the PUSD community, I thank Mr. Corritone for his dedicated service to Piedmont students and wish him well on this next chapter of his career. We will begin the search for Beach Elementary School’s next principal immediately. The position will be posted today with the goal of bringing a recommendation to the PUSD Board of Education on August 24. The Beach community will have the opportunity to participate in the process of selecting a qualified candidate. We will provide more details as they become available.
