The Blotter | Man with indecent exposure warrant cited

A man was found attempting to enter a playground on Wildwood Avenue on Jan. 25 just before noon. According to the Piedmont Police Department crime log, an Asian male in his 30s wearing all black clothing attempted to enter the gate several times and “didn’t respond to the principal.”

The suspect left on foot and was eventually cited by the Piedmont Police. He had a warrant out for indecent exposure from an outside jurisdiction.


A driver was arrested for a DUI after she was found following an accident where she hit a parked car on Jan. 23. The accident was reported at 5:46 p.m. in the area of Kingston and Linda avenues. Officers arrived on scene and found a silver Toyota Prius that had collided with a parked Chevrolet Impala. According to Piedmont police Capt. Chris Monahan, officers determined that the driver showed signs of intoxication and found a beer under the driver’s seat area. Field sobriety tests were administered and the driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. There, she chose a breath test and blew a 0.16 BAC, according to Monahan. She was booked for DUI.


A theft took place at the ACE Hardware at 1221 Grand Ave on Jan. 22 at 2:37 p.m. An older Black male entered the store and took $400 out of a cash register. The suspect left and entered a Toyota Avalon with paper plates and fled south on Grand, according to Monahan. The suspect used a key to access the register, according to the log, but was unknown to the business. Video footage of the suspect and vehicle was captured.


False lead: On Jan. 22, the city’s Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) system reported a stolen 2008 Nissan Altima but when it was pulled over, it turned out the driver was the registered owner. After detaining the occupants, police released them from the scene.
