The National Weather Service’s forecast for the San Francisco Bay Area calls for rain across the region this week, starting today.
Further afield, in the Sacramento and Tahoe regions, “Christmas travel will be complicated by a series of winter storms impacting California,” the weather service tweeted Monday.
Bay Area residents should expect intermittent periods of light to moderate rain through the holiday weekend, as waves of precipitation move through.
The precipitation forecast Tuesday for the Piedmont area was rain Tuesday and Wednesday overnight with a strong likelihood of rain during the day through Thursday. The wet weather may abate Friday but a rainy Christmas Day is forecast, according to the weather service.
In the Bay Area, daytime highs will range from the high 40s to low 50s in the North Bay and in the mid 50s to low 60s in the rest of the region. Overnight lows will be in the high 40s to low 50s.
