The annual pancake breakfast tradition with sausages, fresh fruit, orange juice and coffee at Veterans’ Hall was hosted by the Piedmont Community Service Crew. “I’m proud of Piedmont’s small-town spirit,” said PCSC leader Ken Li. “Piedmont knows how to exhibit this spirit and pull people together.” After 430 pancake breakfasts later, a rumble was felt on the streets as antique cars from across the decades took their place in the parade.

PCSC leader Ken Li later told the Exedra that while July 4th is one day where Piedmonters and visitors can come together and celebrate their identities and communities, he would like to see even more participation from Piedmonters.
While there were five parents who had helped out with the pancake breakfast last year, there were only two parents who chipped in efforts this year. Li said parents who participate have the benefit of seeing their children at their very best – since it was no small feat to cook more than 400 pancakes.
“Even though there is this big hometown event, there are still people headed elsewhere,” Li reflected. “July 4th is one excuse to get out and talk to your neighbors.”
