In spite of a forecast for rain on Sunday, the weather cooperated as families and friends gathered to enjoy beer, brats, and the happy company of 400 adult supporters (and around 100 kids) of the Boosters and Piedmont athletics. (The event was capped at 400 adults.)
While the numbers are still being tallied, Boosters president Chris Hart, who spoke to the Exedra, was optimistic the about the funds raised.
“We are ecstatic with how the event turned out and anticipate final fundraising numbers to be robust. From a community and fund- and friend-raising standpoint, the afternoon exceeded expectations.” He added, “We hope it’s the first of many — would like to make the Boosters Oktoberfest an annual Piedmont tradition.”
Expressing thanks to those who bought tickets and support the Piedmont Boosters, Hart was especially appreciative to those who made the event possible. “Huge thanks go to Steve [Humphries] for all his hard work, and to our sponsors — Eric Sullivan, Anian Tunney, Chad Olcott to name a few — and the many others in the community who are friends to Boosters club.”
