For immediate release from the Piedmont Education Foundation: August 13, 2021
The Piedmont Education Foundation (PEF) is pleased to announce the release of the Patron Donor Impact Report for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Published annually, the Patron provides information on the activities and impact of PEF during the prior year.
The publication includes PEF’s donor listings, financial statements, and detailed information on the distribution and usage of PEF’s 2020-21 grant of $3,015,704 to Piedmont schools.
In addition to this grant, PEF also provided a $360,000 one-time grant specifically to help offset some of the unexpected expenses associated with distance and hybrid learning. PEF raises funds through a variety of campaigns and events, the largest of which is the Giving Campaign which launches each September and runs through June. Last year, other fundraising efforts included corporate sponsorships, Scrip, and spring activities and events.
Classroom instruction is the priority
The report notes that 75% of the grant to PUSD funded classroom instruction, helping to keep class sizes smaller while providing room for electives and AP/Honors classes. An additional 12% went to student support, with the focus on instructional aides and paraprofessionals that provide one-on-one learning opportunities. The grant also helped fund counseling, wellness, art, libraries, technology and athletics.
This year, PEF is mailing the Patron to all Piedmont residents. “We felt it was particularly important this year to share with as many people as possible what this community is able to accomplish by working together,” says PEF executive director Heather Frank. She adds, “It was a difficult year all around, but this community still prioritized our schools with enduring philanthropy.”
PEF’s Patron Donor Impact Report will land in mailboxes this week. Reports from previous years are viewable online at PiedmontEdFoundation.org/about/annual-reports/.
