The Piedmont girls varsity tennis team has enjoyed a strong season, and the final NCS matches, originally postponed due to air quality, are again postponed due to weather. (Fans, stay tuned for an update — they’re headed for the semi-finals!) So far, the team has played 25 matches and tallied an amazing record of 21 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties. This is true even with one of the toughest schedules in Northern California.
In addition to playing league matches in the WACC (the team was undefeated in league play for the year), they played 4 non-league matches, 1 tournament (an additional 4 matches) and 2 NCS matches (at least 1 if not 2 more to play). The two losses were to Miramonte (5-4) who is seeded first in NCS Division 1 and to Menlo (one of the top teams in Nor Cal). The results have been truly remarkable.

Perhaps more important than the great results, is the camaraderie this team has. It is a large team of 18 student-athletes of which 6 are seniors, 8 are juniors, 2 are sophomores and 2 are freshman. Many of the girls have been on the team for 3 or 4 years and know each other well and have a great time practicing and playing matches together. The seniors and juniors have welcomed the underclassmen and made them an integral part of the team.
Coaches James Landes and Cory Reich have thoroughly enjoyed coaching these girls this season.
