The Blotter | Assault, robbery takes place on Crocker

An unknown assailant assaulted and robbed a victim on Crocker and Wildwood avenues on Saturday. The suspect pushed the victim from behind into some shrubs. He then rifled through the victim’s pockets and stole an iPhone 7.

The suspect then fled in a dark-colored SUV.

The victim was unable to provide a description of the suspect, other than it was a male. The drive of the SUV appeared to be a female.

The iPhone is not trackable and is worth approximately $200. The victim did not suffer any injuries.


On November 27, a stolen vehicle was recovered in Piedmont. At about 10 p.m., the Automated License Plate Reader hit on a stolen 2007 Honda Accord 4-door sedan driving west on Oakland at Olive avenues. The vehicle was found unoccupied parked in front of 3725 Grand. The vehicle was searched and a machete, several knives, a circular saw and used needles were found.

The vehicle was towed. According to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan, it may have been involved in a failure-to-yield event in Oakland.

A red Cadillac was traveling in the area at a high rate of speed during the police investigation of the Accord. According to Captain Monahan, “The persons in that vehicle may be related to the theft of (the Accord).”


Two men were found inside a person’s unlocked vehicle on the morning of November 30. The incident happened just before 9 a.m. on Crocker. The victim noticed the two men inside the car from their house. The suspects were described adult Hispanic males, 5-foot-8 to 6-feet tall, 19-25 years old. They were wearing all black clothing and COVID-19 masks.

One suspect was reported as holding a firearm but never pointed it at the victim. The suspects fled in a black Nissan Murano southbound on Mesa Avenue towards Park Avenue. Nothing was reported stolen.


At 3:45 p.m. on December 2, a weed whacker and a chainsaw were stolen from an unlocked Chevrolet Astro van parked on Crocker. The owner of the vehicle reported confronting a suspect, who then fled in a black Mercedes sedan southbound on Crocker towards Mandana Boulevard.

The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. The total loss was approximately $1,000.


Also on December 2, residential vandalism was reported on Moraga Avenue. The burglary took place sometime between 8 a.m. on November 30 and 9 a.m. on December 1. An unknown suspect or suspects broke one of the glass panels next to the rear door of the residence. The damage was approximately $400.
