Over nearly 30 years, we have developed enormous respect for his integrity, work ethic, and his ability to get things done for the communities he serves. Bill takes public service seriously but with humility. He does his homework, listens carefully, treats people with respect even when they disagree, stays after the meeting to reflect and forge consensus, and then delivers on his word. Those qualities are rarer than they should be in public life, but they are the hallmarks of our best public servants.
Bill’s leadership at UC Berkeley prepared him ideally for the Piedmont City Council. He knows how to build a budget and to prioritize the things that have made Piedmont such a good place to live: strong schools, safe streets, community engagement, and good neighbors.
