On Nov. 3, Piedmont voters will elect representatives to fill three seats on the Piedmont City Council, in addition to federal, state, county, and special district offices.

The ballot also includes a proposed increase to the city’s Real Estate Transfer Tax and 14 statewide ballot measures.

All registered Alameda County voters will receive a vote-by-mail ballot. The Registrar of Voters began mailing voter information guides on Sept. 24 and will begin mailing ballots starting Monday, Oct. 5. Get notified when your ballot is mailed, received, and counted by signing up for the Registrar of Voters’ Track My Ballot tool.

Voter Registration deadline Oct. 19
The last day to register to vote for the Nov. 3 election is Monday, Oct.19.

If you’re already registered, check your registration status before Oct. 19 to confirm that your information is correct. You’ll need to re-register if you have:
• moved
• changed your name
• wish to change your political party preference.

Voter registration forms are available at the City Clerk’s Office and from the Registrar of Voters. You can also register online to vote.

Turning in your ballot
The Registrar of Voters encourages voters to submit their ballots directly, at an official drop box, vote center, or at a “Ballot Drop Stop” event. You can submit your ballot at any of 66 official Registrar of Voters secure ballot drop boxes across Alameda County, any Alameda County vote center, or by mail.

Ballot drop boxes: In Piedmont, there is a ballot drop box located near the mailboxes at Highland Way and Mountain Avenue, available 24 hours a day. The Alameda County Sheriff’s Office picks up ballots from the drop boxes and returns them to the Registrar of Voters daily. The last pickup will be at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

Ballot Drop Stop events: The Registrar of Voters is hosting a series of pop-up events throughout Alameda County where voters can hand their ballot directly to ROV staff. Drop stop events near Piedmont include:

  • Oct. 13, 10am: Oakland Public Library Golden Gate Branch, 5606 San Pablo Avenue
  • Oct. 16, 10am: Emeryville Senior Center, 431 Salem Street
  • Oct. 21, 10am: Oakland Public Library Dimond Branch, 3565 Fruitvale Avenue
  • Oct. 22, 10am: Oakland Public Library Golden Gate Branch, 5606 San Pablo Avenue

• Mailing your ballot: If you mail your ballot through the post office, it must be postmarked by Nov. 3 and received by Nov. 10.
Whether submitting your ballot by mail or a secure drop box, remember to sign the back of your return envelope – otherwise your vote will not be counted!

Voting in Person
Alameda County voters can vote in person at any of 100 Vote Centers across the county. In Piedmont, the Veterans Memorial Building at 401 Highland Avenue will serve as a Vote Center.
All vote centers will be open:
• Saturday, Oct. 31 – Monday, Nov. 2: 9am-5pm
• Tuesday, Nov. 3: 7am to 8pm

A smaller subset of voter centers will be open 9am-5pm for a full 11 days before the election, starting on Oct. 24. The closest 11-day vote center to Piedmont is in Oakland at Parks Chapel AME Church, 476 34th Street.
