Coastal and Bayshore flooding is forecast this week in low lying parts of the Bay Area and coast, along with high heat in interior areas.
High tides Monday through Wednesday are forecast to be about 1.2 feet above normal levels, bringing a chance of flooding to low lying areas in Marin County and coastal areas down to Monterey County, according to Dial Hoang, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service.
Hoang said roads, parking lots, and bike paths at lower elevations could see flooding, and that beach access in some areas could be restricted by tides blocking coastal trails.
Bayshore flooding is anticipated along San Francisco Bay, San Pablo Bay, and Monterey Bay Monday through Thursday.
Overnight humidity is also forecast to be lower than usual, leading to increased fire risk later in the week because of dry conditions, according to the Weather Service.
While there was no heat advisory issued as of Monday, Hoang said there was moderate heat risk forecast Wednesday through Sunday in higher elevations in the East Bay, South Bay, and parts of Monterey County.
Two major fires that have been burning in Monterey County since August were nearing full containment as of Monday.
Both fires started in Los Padres National Forest east of state Highway 1 in the unincorporated area of Big Sur.
The Timber Fire, which started Aug. 8, was 88% contained as of Monday after burning over 25,300 acres, according to Cal Fire.
The Plaskett Fire, which started Aug. 26, had burned over 30,100 acres just south of the Timber Fire and was 99% contained as of Monday.
