Looking to learn something new this fall? Registration is underway for the Fall 2026 session, with classes beginning Sept. 14. Piedmont Adult School offers a wide range of community classes designed to make learning enjoyable and accessible for adults of all ages. Whether you want to explore a big idea, discover a new practice or simply taste some really good chocolate, there’s still time to join us this fall.
Spaces are still available for classes including:
Understanding Modern Art: Make more sense of what you see in museums and galleries! Explore the artists, ideas and movements that shaped modern art and learn some of the vocabulary that can make looking at and talking about art more enjoyable. No previous art background is needed.
Philosophy as a Way of Living: Explore how ideas from some of the world’s great philosophical traditions can help us think about the questions that matter in everyday life, from our values and choices to what gives life meaning.
Mindfulness in Motion: Zen & the Japanese Sword (Budo Zen): Discover a different approach to mindfulness through movement. This class combines Zen meditation with Iaido, a classical Japanese sword art practiced with bokken (wooden swords). Through guided sword movements, concentration and meditation, you’ll explore ways to develop greater focus, awareness and inner calm. No martial arts or meditation experience is necessary.
Wild Chocolate: Taste the Amazon: Taste four premium chocolates made from sustainably sourced Amazonian cacao and discover how where cacao grows influences its flavor. A certified chocolate taster will guide you through the tasting while sharing the story of chocolate that supports rainforest preservation and local communities.
Eat for Your Body Type: Learn more about your individual body type and explore how making thoughtful food choices can support your health and well-being.
Come learn something new, expand your horizons, and meet great people at Piedmont Adult School this fall! Register today or call 510-594-2655 for more information.
