Report came in from Bell Avenue
Packages were reported taken from the front porch of a residence on Bell Avenue on Aug. 4, police said. The victim reported that she saw the incident on a doorbell camera. The unknown suspect was described as a heavy-set Hispanic male wearing a black motorcycle helmet, a white T-shirt and dark pants riding a silver scooter, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan.
The report came in at 6:05 p.m.
The suspect was reported to have departed north on Blair. The two packages reported stolen were worth an estimated $175 and contained clothes and cosmetics, according to Monahan. He said surveillance footage has been provided and a follow up is in progress.
On Aug. 2 at 3:09 a.m., an auto burglary was reported on Crocker Avenue. The caller reported hearing a grinding noise and a vehicle driving around the neighborhood, according to the police log. The log said police responded and found a vehicle with its door open. Contact was attempted with a potential victim but there was no answer. It was unclear if a crime was committed. Monahan said there has been no contact with the victim.
