Who’s that Good Dog?

Family: Leslie Karren

Name: Lucy

Age: 4

Breed: Chihuahua mix

Adoption story: I had lost my previous dog suddenly in 2024, so I was looking for a new one. I went back to the shelter where I had gotten my first dog, which was the Milo Foundation in Richmond. (They’re an excellent dog rescue shelter.) It took me a while to find the right dog for me, but Lucy caught my eye. She had just come in and they didn’t know much about her other than she was found as a stray in Merced. Lucy did not have too hard of a time adjusting to my home, although she’s a little bark-y (it’s her protection mode) — sometimes when there are people over she barks a lot. But a lot of the time she’s calm.

Likes: Lucy loves to climb trees! She also likes riding in the car, lounging in the sun, and being with me. She loves to eat her dog food, doggie treats, and cheese. Lucy loves her blue and white blanket (pictured). Additionally, she likes hanging out with other dogs at dog sitters when I go on vacation. It took her a while to start liking toys but now she does — especially the soft squeaky ones!

Dislikes: Lucy does not like baths. She shivers whenever she has to get them. Also, she hates the sound of blow dryers. Whenever I go to the hair salon, she can’t stand the noise they make.

Interesting facts: Lucy can do cool tricks like standing on her hind legs (as seen in photo) while casting me extremely cute looks.
