The Piedmont High School boys golf season came to a close on May 11 as its two best players competed at the North Coast Section Division 2 championship at Baywood Golf & Country Club in Arcata.
The top players from the smaller schools in the section competed for the right to play at the NCS Division 1 championships on May 18. Also, the schools competed for the team championship.
Derek Lee shot a six-over 78 to miss qualifying for the Division 1 championship by just one stroke. The top 18 qualified and the cut line was 77.
Lee had one birdie and seven bogeys on the course.
Jackson Van Kleeck also competed and shot an 82.
College Prep’s Chris Chang won the individual title with a 69. Teammate Will Chang was third at 71. Marin Catholic won the team championship at 301.
Lee and Van Kleeck qualified for the Division 2 championships as individuals from the West Alameda County Conference.
The Division 1 championships will be at Windsor Golf Course.
