Boys tennis | Piedmont sweeps Alameda schools

Highlanders prepare for NCS

The Piedmont High School boys tennis team completed its regular season with a pair of wins over the Alameda schools.

On April 28, the Highlanders beat host Alameda, 4-3. Lucas Smolko beat Eddie Luo at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4. Ari Moscovich defeated Levi Pero at No. 3, 6-3, 7-5. Emilio Misra outlasted Keenan Chan at No. 4, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. The Hornets Logan Mevoli downed Nate Welch at No. 2, 6-4, 3-6, 6-4.

In doubles, Joseph Assalian and Benjamin Davis squeaked by Johnny Sanchez and Tyler Chi at No. 1, 7-6 (5), 2-6, 7-5. Alameda’s Joshua Baker and James Chea  defeated Hunter Fasteau and Maximo Miller at No. 2, 6-4, 1-6, 7-5. The Hornets Finn Thornton and Cayden Dang beat Henry Van Den Bos and August Collins at No. 3, 6-1, 6-2.

On April 29, Piedmont swept host Encinal, 6-0. Welch beat Benjamin Katz at No. 1 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Misra double-bageled Dashiell Wilson at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0. Carter Brookfield downed Henry Atwood at No. 3, 6-1, 6-1. Elias Reed-Miguel shut out Jake Matthews at No. 4, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Van Den Bos and Collins beat Thyago Guerra and Zephyr Martin at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1. Travers Kemp and Adam Quibelan dominated Simon Tisdale and Daxton Sadauskas at No. 2, 6-0, 6-0. There was no third doubles match.
