Tess English will lead the Piedmont Council of Scouting America starting May 16.

Scouting America today announced the selection of Tess English as Piedmont Council’s new scout executive. Originally from Fairfax County, Virginia, English began her scouting career in 2013 in Tucson, Arizona, where she led outreach programming, the organization said. She later worked on new unit development throughout the council, before serving in district director roles in Arizona and then in Salt Lake City and in El Paso, Texas. Most recently, English was assistant scout executive for the Gulf Stream Council in West Palm Beach, Florida.

English served eight years with the U.S. Navy and earned Order of the Arrow and Wood Badge honors with Scouting America. Outside scouting, she enjoys spending time with family, playing rugby, and playing pick‑up basketball. Within the broader community, she is president of a local Kiwanis chapter, has been board chair at the Borderland Rainbow Center, and is an active volunteer member of Fluxx Productions in Tucson.

English replaces outgoing Scout Executive Kate Benson, who was at the helm of the Piedmont Council for six years before moving on to a national cub scouts leadership position in March.
