In an email to museum members on April 28, OMCA said it will close on May 1 in observance of, and in solidarity with, a planned nationwide May Day action and related peaceful demonstrations:

Organizers of the May Day activities have specified that this year’s general strike is a national call for “no shopping, no work, and no school.” In support of our neighbors, out of precaution for the safety of our visitors, and in alliance with the greater social movement, we’ve made the decision to close our doors for the day, including that evening’s Friday Nights at OMCA, which will return the following week on Friday, May 8.

The day before, on Thursday, April 30, OMCA will host drop-in poster making. Stop by the Museum’s Oak Street Entrance from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. to collect posters for use at May Day 2026 protests, rallies, and actions.
