Boys lacrosse | Piedmont gets pair of victories

The Piedmont High School boys lacrosse team scored a pair of victories to improve to 6-5 on the season. On April 17, the Highlanders beat Bishop O’Dowd on the road in a West Alameda County Conference match, 11-9. Connor Fredericks had seven goals to lead Piedmont. Timmy Kalamas had three assists.

Owen Curran, Ryan Graham, and Landon Heppner each scored a goal for the Highlanders. Gianluca Richmond and Milo Stevenson added assists.

Lucas Cavallo-Merrion scored three times for the Dragons. Jake Lim had a goal and four assists. Kevin Sally had two goals and Jack Sheehy had a goal and an assist. Bennet Kramer and Trevor Erickson each had a goal.

The game got off to a rocking start with Bishop O’Dowd holding a 6-5 lead after one quarter. Things slowed down a bit and the Dragons led 8-7 entering the fourth quarter. Two Fredericks goals in the final period along with scores from Graham and Heppner led Piedmont to the win.

On April 20, Piedmont won a nonleague match with Dublin at Witter Field, 18-5. Kalamas had five goals and four assists to lead the Highlanders. Fredericks had four goals and five assists. Curran had four goals and Graham had two. Heppner, Quentin Shafroth, and Gael Fierro had single goals. Stevenson had two assists and Jax Edward Thayer added one.

Leland Macaraeg scored four goals to lead Dublin.

Piedmont is next scheduled to host Berkeley on April 24.
