Havens dance-off kicks off Spring Fling parent parties

“Nobody puts baby in the corner”: Spring Fling’s first parent party took place on April 15 at the Ellen Driscoll Theater with over 80 Havens Elementary School students and parents coming out to dance.

Parent hosts Hilary Gitter, Della Chow, and Alisha Eastwood organized the family-friendly event and Naila Brown (a ballet and modern dance teacher at Piedmont Ballet Academy and Shawl Anderson) choreographed and led the dance-off between parents and kids.

The students won the dance-off to Beyonce’s “Crazy in Love.” The party also included a warm-up to “I’ve Had the Time of My Life” and a Soul Train including Chaka Khan, “Footloose,” “Sports Car,” “Hot to Go.” and “Lush Life.”

Dancing down the line

“It was wonderful to see families come out on a Wednesday evening with such great energy. These kind of efforts to join together as a school community is what makes Piedmont so special,” said the event organizers.
