Boys lacrosse | Piedmont beats University

The Piedmont High School boys lacrosse team scored a good road victory on March 25, beating University-San Francisco 5-3 at Paul Goode Field in San Francisco.

Five Highlanders scored the goals: Patrick Brayer, Connor Fredericks, Landon Heppner, Timothy Kalamas and Jax Edward Thayer. Brayer added an assist. Kaden Kronenberger had two goals for the Red Devils. Brooks Bijur had the other.

Piedmont (4-3) took a 1-0 lead on a goal by Edward Thayer with eight minutes, 22 seconds to go in the first quarter. But University struck back with Kronenberger netting goals at 5:05 and 3:35 to go in the quarter.

Kalamas and Brayer scored consecutive goals in the second quarter to give the Highlanders a 3-2 lead. However, Bijur scored with 3:34 to go in the half and the game was tied at halftime. It stayed that way into the fourth quarter. Heppner finally gave Piedmont the lead for good with a goal with 3:41 left in regulation. Fredericks scored late to ice the game.

On March 27, Piedmont lost at home to Casa Grande, 17-10. No statistics were available for the game.

The Highlanders are next scheduled to host Rancho Cotate on April 2. It will be senior night for the team, which has 10 seniors on the roster.
