‘Fatherland’ | PHS seniors will direct, perform in drama about Jan. 6

Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, April 1, 2, 3 @ 7pm | Black Box Theater at the PHS Alan Harvey Theater

“Fatherland” by Stephen Sachs  is the true story of an 18-year-old son who turned in his father to the FBI for his militant role in the January 6th attack on the US Capitol. Fast paced and powerful, “Fatherland” has been hailed as an “extraordinary drama” and a “finely calibrated, surprisingly affecting new work” by The New York Times. This compelling tale is told verbatim from public statements, case evidence, and official court transcripts from the explosive trial that ignited a media frenzy and grabbed headlines nationwide.

“Fatherland” is directed by PHS Senior Sacha Andrews and stars seniors Ali Atanasio, Elisha Bell, Caleb Canada, and Amelia Carter.

Stephen Sachs is the award-winning author of 19 plays produced in theaters across the United States and translated worldwide. Sach says, about this play, ”“It doesn’t tell anyone how to vote or what to think or feel. “It’s about a national issue… but it really is a tale of this specific family, of this father and this son, a young man who is forced to make a moral decision.”

The show is rated PG-13, best suitable for those in high school and older due to its discussions about political extremism, guns and violence.  Please contact producer Kimberly Taylor for questions about content.

“Fatherland” will run Wednesday, April 1, Thursday, April 2, and Friday, April 3 at 7pm in the Black Box Theater at the Alan Harvey Theater complex at Piedmont High School (the second level Drama Classroom).

Everyone is encouraged to buy tickets in advance as seats are reserved and there are only 40 available per night.
