Reminder: Sunday morning street closures for Oakland Marathon include parts of Piedmont and Oakland avenues, Grand Lake area

The 17th annual Oakland Marathon kicks off Friday, with community events on Saturday and a series of races — from a 5K to the full marathon — and festivities running through early Sunday afternoon. Streets along the course will be impacted by detours, road closures, and public parking restrictions.

From the organizers:

All races will start and finish on Lake Merritt Blvd and will run through large sections Downtown, West Oakland, Lake Merritt, as well as other neighborhoods.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead and either time their travel to avoid street closures or seek alternative routes utilizing Waze and/or Google Maps. All highway and interstate routes will remain open throughout the marathon. Please pay attention to all posted No Parking signs and be advised that motorists that park on the streets listed below may not be able to move their vehicles during the road closures.
