PIE to host IEP workshop for families

PIE’s IEP Workshop with Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF)

As part of its Neurodiversity Speaker Series, PIE (Piedmonters for Inclusive Education) is sponsoring an IEP workshop with the Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF). The session will provide a comprehensive look at the IEP process from start to finish. Education advocate Andrea Yu will walk attendees through parents’ rights, how to navigate the IEP document, and practical steps families can take when the process isn’t working as it should.

The session will also explore the foundational principles of the IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act), covering key concepts such as free appropriate public education, least restrictive environment, the right to an independent educational evaluation, and what meaningful parental participation truly looks like.

Anyone interested in attending can RSVP HERE.
