Four heads of Piedmont city departments will speak at the Piedmont Seniors meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 25 from 11 a.m. to noon.

Director of Public Works Daniel Gonzales, Communication Manager Echa Schneider, Police Chief Frederick Shavies, and Fire Chief Dave Brannigan will give a talk about the city’s new emergency dispatch center which opened this past December. The new facility now has its own generator in addition to upgraded technology, so it will remain operational even during extended power outages or major emergencies.

The project began in June 2024. It was funded by the American Rescue Plan Act and a $1.8 million contract was awarded for the project. Piedmont fields approximately 13,000 calls each year for the police and fire departments.

All Piedmonters are invited to attend the talk at Piedmont Community Hall (711 Highland Avenue.)
