New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks bound for the 2026 Super Bowl landed in San Jose over the weekend as they prepare for the upcoming game.
Both teams arrived at San Jose Mineta International Airport on chartered aircraft that took them directly from their home cities to the Bay Area.
Before either of the prospective Super Bowl winners graced the skies over the Bay, a traditional Japanese performance group brought high energy music to people waiting for the teams in San Jose.
Armed with wooden sticks, colorful outfits and under an American flag hanging above, San Jose Taiko energized the crowd with their percussions and shouts.
For over 15 minutes, the group continuously played their drums and assortment of other instruments. The musicians incorporated jumps, expressive facial movements, and coordinated arm movements. Patriots and Seahawks fans smiled as they watched the display of Bay Area’s diverse cultural makeup.
The red, white, and blue Boeing 767-300ER of the Patriots landed first, its livery painted with the team’s logo of a stylized U.S. Revolutionary War minuteman.
A few hours later, a chartered Boeing 747-400 from Atlas Air holding the Seahawks landed as the sun was setting and the sky was painted in strokes of pink and orange.
A group of a dozen elementary and middle-aged children stood to the side of the hangar, dressed in white Super Bowl merchandise, and cheered on their favorite players as they walked across the tarmac.
