Car kits still available for Girl Scout Pinewood Derby on Feb. 7

Girl Scouts prepping their Pinewood projects

The 21st annual Girl Scout Pinewood Derby is coming up on Feb. 7 from 3–6 p.m. at the Piedmont Community Church. (Editor’s note: Piedmont Cub Scouts will be racing at the church from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.)

Car kits are still available by contacting Carolyn Pan at carolynpan@yahoo.com. The troop is happy to help you get your car cut and completed, just contact us.

In the children’s categories, there will be trophies for 1st and 2nd place, medals for 3rd place and a special trophy for Judge’s Choice Cars. Every racer will get a certificate and Pinewood Derby patch.

A new adult category will be held for grownups who also love racing. There will also be medals for winners in the adult category.

Trial Run this Saturday

Racers will have an opportunity to try out their cars on the derby track this Saturday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the Piedmont Community Church at 10 Highland Way.
