PRD Summer Preview: Week 0 camps return, plus new camps featuring podcasting, LEGO, and K-Pop Demon Hunters

Reminder: Summer program registration opens Feb. 3 for residents (non-residents Feb. 10) 

Start planning your summer with the Piedmont Recreation Department! PRD’s Summer 2026 Activity  Guide will be published online Monday, January 26, with resident registration opening Tuesday, February  3 at 6 pm. Non-resident registration will follow a week later at 6 pm on Tuesday, February 10.  

This installment of PRD’s summer preview series highlights a few of the exciting new offerings joining PRD’s broader summer lineup, which features over 300 camps for all ages and abilities across sports,  enrichment, and the arts.  

Featured new camps for 2026 

Week 0 camps return June 1-5 

PRD will again offer “Week 0” camps from June 1-5, providing early-summer options for students whose  summer begins before Piedmont schools are out for the year. Week 0 offerings include: 

  • LEGO Problem Solvers Lab (ages 6-12) 
  • ANTS All Sport (ages 5-11) 
  • Glee Club: Royals & Rebels (ages 5-10) 

New: Summer Podcast Lab  

A new camp led by Havens Elementary teacher and former NPR and Washington Post journalist Claire Breen. This camp introduces students age 9-12 to the process of creating a class podcast – from  choosing a topic and planning a segment to interviewing, scriptwriting, and recording. By the end of the  week, participants will have produced a completed podcast episode to share with family and friends.  Offered June 15-18, June 22-26, and June 29-July 2. 

New: LEGO Problem-Solver Lab  

Aspiring engineers will love LEGO Problem-Solver Lab, led by instructor Axel Guzman, offered four weeks  this summer. Each session features hands-on building challenges designed around creative problem solving and teamwork. Offered June 1-5, June 8-12, June 29-July 2, and July 27-July 31 – both half- and full day camps. 

New: Music and dance camps, featuring pop dance, Wicked, and K-Pop Demon Hunters In partnership with Village Music School, this year’s camp lineup includes themed musical theater and  dance camps for ages 10-12 throughout the summer. Themes include Pop Dance Hits (June 15-18),  Wicked (July 6-10), and K-Pop Demon Hunters (July 27-31). Each session includes age-appropriate instruction in movement and performance, with a short end-of-week showcase for participants. 

How to register 

Registration opens February 3 for residents at piedmont.ca.gov/CommunityPass. New participants will need to create an account to register for programs.
