Tools reported stolen along with GMC Sierra
An unknown suspect or suspects reportedly stole a 2026 GMC Sierra with a trailer attached from the area of Blair and Hillside avenues on Jan. 7. A report of tools being stolen came in at approximately 4:45 p.m.
Police arrived on the scene and found the vehicle gone and were told the trailer had a large amount of dirt and concrete in it, according to Piedmont Police Capt. Chris Monahan. He said the suspect or suspects had fled on Blair Avenue towards Ricardo Avenue. The driver lost control at that intersection and crashed into the front of a residence. No injuries were reported, according to Monahan.
The suspects were described as males wearing ski masks, according to Monahan. He said they fled in a dark gray Honda heading toward Grand Avenue.
There is no further information on the suspect or suspects.
At 1:25 a.m. on Jan. 7, a black Toyota Camry was detected by the city’s Automatic License Plate Reader system. According to Monahan, the vehicle had previous fled Piedmont police.
Police found the vehicle near Crocker Avenue and Hampton Road. According to Monahan, the vehicle then accelerated at a high rate of speed.
Police deployed “stop sticks,” which took out at least one tire. Police did not pursue the vehicle but Monahan said flock cameras recorded the vehicle entering Highway 13.
At 2:23 a.m., the vehicle was located parked in Berkeley. A VIN check showed the vehicle had been reported stolen from Oakland. The vehicle was towed.
On Jan. 5, a traffic stop on a silver Honda Civic was conducted on Grand Avenue at 11:51 p.m. Police determined the male driver had been driving recklessly and under the influence of alcohol. The driver was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. The vehicle was towed.
