Highlanders get first WACC point

Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team got its first point of the West Alameda County Conference Foothill Division season with a 2-2 tie at Berkeley on Jan. 8.

The Highlanders are now 3-2-2, 0-0-1 WACC.

The Yellowjackets took a 1-0 lead at 10 minutes and held the advantage to the end of the half.

Elia Kwong converted a penalty kick early in the second half to even the score. Berkeley quickly regained the lead but in the 60th minute, Miranda Liu got the equalizer on a shot over the keeper to make it 2-2.

Piedmont will host Gateway-San Francisco in a non-league match on Jan. 10. The Highlanders will resume WACC play on Jan. 13 at Castro Valley.
