Girls soccer | Piedmont falls to Miramonte

Team plays well against tough opponents

Piedmont High School’s girls soccer team played valiantly in a game at Miramonte, but fell 2-0 as Matadors star Inara Inesi scored two goals in the second half.

The Highlanders are now 0-1-1 on the season.

The teams played at a high tempo throughout the match. Miramonte’s ball pressure limited Piedmont’s shots but the Highlanders were able to move the ball against the Matadors.

Inesi finally broke through in the 55th minute. She was able to take advantage of an incomplete clearance.

The second goal came in the 65th minute and again was set up by a failed clearance.

Piedmont next plays at Cardinal Newman-Santa Rosa on December 10. The teams have met in the NCS playoffs multiple times including in 2024 when the Cardinals eliminated the Highlanders, 2-0. Piedmont came back to win a nonleague match last season, 2-1.
