Vehicles found on Blair on November 24
Multiple vehicles parked on Blair Avenue were reported to have had their windows smashed on the morning of Nov. 24. The apparent crimes were reported to have happened between 4-4:40 a.m.
A black 2021 BMW X5 had its front driver side window broken apparently by an unknown object with the intent of breaking into the vehicle, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. No loss was reported and the damage was approximately $1,000.
Another victim’s tan 2002 Lexus GS300 was burglarized in the driveway of the residence. That vehicle had its passenger side front window shattered and the vehicle was rifled through, according to Captain Monahan. He said the damage was estimated at $1,000.
Around the same time, a white 2013 BMW X5 was reported with a smashed front driver’s side window. Again, Captain Monahan said the vehicle appeared to be rifled through but no loss was reported with about $1,000 damage. A second vehicle owned by the same victim, a white 2024 Audi Q4, had the appearance of the front driver’s side window being struck by an unknown object to gain access, according to Captain Monahan. He said there was again no loss with approximately $1,000 in damage.
Police were dispatched an automobile accident on Nov. 27 at 8:21 p.m. on Moraga Avenue. A white 2020 Volkswagen Jetta had collided with a black 2025 Mazda CX-50, according to Captain Monahan. He said there was moderate damage to both cars.
Police said the driver of the Volkswagen showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Captain Monahan said after field sobriety tests were administered, officers on the scene determined that she could not operate a motor vehicle safely. She refused a preliminary alcohol screening test and was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
There, she submitted to breath tests, according to Captain Monahan, and recorded 0.18 and 0.17 BAC. She was booked for DUI.
On Nov. 21, unknown suspect or suspects broke into the front and rear passenger side windows of an Audi on Crest Road. The report came in at 10:03 p.m. Captain Monahan said a dog walker reported seeing a potential suspect walking next to the vehicle which had a child safety seat hanging out of the rear window.
No loss was reported and the repairs are estimated at $1,600.
Sometime between Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. and Nov. 8 at 9 a.m., a residential burglary occurred in an unoccupied house on Scenic Avenue. The house was for sale and staged, according to Captain Monahan.
A suspect or suspects removed the lockbox and entered through the front door. A gas/electric Cosmo 48 inch double oven that had been installed in the kitchen was taken as well as a microwave oven. The loss was approximately $4,300.
