A suspect reportedly sat down for a glass of wine at the kitchen table after he allegedly broke into a Palo Alto home over the weekend, police said.

A resident called police about 12:23 p.m. Sunday to report a burglary at his home in the 2600 block of Bryant Street.

The resident, a man in his 70s, told police he had left earlier in the day and found the suspect upon his return.

“When he returned home, he found the suspect sitting at the kitchen table drinking his wine,” Palo Alto police said in a news release.

The suspect, later identified as 31-year-old Sabina Blanco of San Francisco, left the home when the resident told him to leave, police said. The resident told authorities that his home had been rummaged through.

Officers found Blanco after a search of the neighborhood and he was later booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail on suspicion of residential burglary, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and misdemeanor battery on a police officer — for allegedly spitting on an officer.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the police 24-hour dispatch center at (650) 329-2413. Anonymous tips can be sent via text message or voice mail to (650) 383-8984, or submitted using the “TipNow-Palo Alto” app, which is available via the App Store or Google Play.
