A group of unidentified suspects allegedly went on a mini-crime spree on Oct. 23. The group reportedly stole multiple packages from a porch on Kingston Avenue around 5:11 p.m.
The suspects fled in a black Porsche Cayenne with a stolen license plate, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. He said that after fleeing, the suspects stopped to attempt to steal a white Ford F-150 on Greenbank Road.
The owner of the truck had left his keys in the vehicle and the suspects attempted to start the truck. However, the suspects were confronted, according to Captain Monahan, and fled in the Porsche. The owner of the truck reported the suspects had stolen $1,050 worth of tools from the back of the vehicle.
Captain Monahan said surveillance footage has been reviewed and the case is ongoing. He said there has been no response from the Kingston resident to this point.
On Oct. 21, a vehicle reported stolen was found in Piedmont. At 7:12 a.m., Piedmont Police found a beige 2004 Chevrolet Avalanche parked near MacArthur Boulevard and Piedmont Avenue. There were no license plates on the vehicle. A records check showed that it had been reported stolen out of Oakland. The registered owner was notified and picked the vehicle up.
On Oct. 23, a report came in regarding potential theft by a caregiver. The son of the alleged victim reported his suspicion that one of his father’s caregivers might have fraudulently used one of his father’s credit cards. However, the son had no proof. He said he asked the caregiver agency for information on the caregivers who had worked with his father and they declined to share names, citing “confidentiality and proprietary restrictions without a warrant,” according to Captain Monahan. He said the case is under further review.
