Honda Civic potential link to crime

Approximately $5,000 worth of tools were taken from a work truck parked on Howard Avenue on Sept. 30. The incident happened at 10:39 a.m. The unknown suspect or suspects took the construction and plumbing tools from an unlocked 2017 Ford F-150. Surveillance footage showed a gray 2005 Honda Civic fleeing the area, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan.


On Sept. 26, an auto burglary was reported on Fairview Avenue. The report came in at 4:37 p.m. Two unknown suspects wearing masks broke into a Toyota Venza by breaking the driver’s side window, according to Captain Monahan. He said there was no loss reported but the damage to the vehicle was estimated to be $500. The suspect vehicle is a black Infiniti G37S.


At 6:50 a.m. on Oct. 1, Piedmont Police observed an adult male burglarizing a white Econoline van on Sunnyside Avenue, according to Captain Monahan. The suspect was described as wearing all black and fled the scene. Police contacted the registered owner of the van and he said there was no loss.


At 2:03 a.m. on Sept. 27, Piedmont Police pulled over a 2019 GMC pickup truck at Grand Avenue and Mandana Boulevard. Captain Monahan said the driver had driven with “wanton disregard for people or property while under the influence of alcohol.” The suspect refused to take a chemical test and a blood warrant was obtained, according to Captain Monahan. The suspect was arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin. The vehicle was released to a friend of the driver.


On Oct. 3, an adult male was reported to be exposing himself at 9:10 a.m. Police found the suspect on Boulevard Way about eight minutes later. According to Captain Monahan, he was arrested for trespassing and taken to Santa Rita Jail.


A white 2020 Honda Civic with a damaged driver’s side door was found parked near MacArthur Boulevard and Manila Avenue around 7:11 a.m. A records check showed it had been reported stolen out of Berkeley. The vehicle was returned to its registered owner.
