ALPR system detected Camry
A man was arrested for possession of a stolen vehicle after the city’s Automatic License Plate Reader (ALPR) system detected the vehicle. The hit came on a white 2022 Toyota Camry four-door reported stolen by the California Highway Patrol. The vehicle was spotted near Grand and Wildwood avenues at 11:16 a.m. on August 23.
Piedmont police conducted a traffic stop and arrested the driver and sole occupant. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.
On August 26, a resident reported that a front window on his residence had been smashed with glass on the floor of the residence on Wyngaard Avenue. He said he came downstairs and discovered the broken window around 9 a.m. A concrete statue of a small rabbit from the front yard had been thrown through the window causing the damage.
On August 27 at 2 p.m., an unoccupied 2018 Acura TLX was found by police near Fairmount Avenue and Stanley Place. A VIN check revealed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland. It was recovered for the owner.
On August 28 at 12:32 p.m., a black 2019 Acura TLX was found by police in the same area. It had also been reported stolen. The vehicle was towed.
Also on August 28, a white 2018 Acura TLX was found at Stanley and Kempton Avenue. It had also been reported stolen. The vehicle was towed.
