The Blotter | Auto burglary with approximately $725 taken

Vehicle was at Olive and Oakland avenues

A Silver Honda Pilot was burgled on July 10 at the intersection of Olive and Oakland avenues. Approximately $725 of property was taken.

The incident happened at 1:57 a.m. and the suspect or suspects entered the vehicle by reportedly smashing a window.

A Yonex tennis racket worth $300 was taken.  A second racket was also taken as well as a camper stove and a blanket. So was a battery jumper with cables.


On July 7, a 2022 Honda Accord was stolen at 3:18 a.m. on Moraga Avenue. Suspects were reported to be driving a silver four-door sedan. The Accord was later found in Oakland. There are no known suspects at this time, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan.


On July 6, police were dispatched to a report of stolen packages on Linda Avenue at 4:07 p.m. The officer observed a Black female suspect enter a property, according to Captain Monahan.

After speaking to a homeowner on the block and to the suspect, the officer informed the suspect she would be arrested if she trespassed again. No property was taken, according to Captain Monahan. The suspect was given a courtesy ride out of Piedmont.


On July 7, a woman was seen by Piedmont police “throwing papers around,” at 6:23 p.m. on Highland Avenue, according to Captain Monahan. A police officer was flagged down by the woman, who said she needed help. The woman was given a courtesy ride to Lakeshore and Lake Park avenues.
