The Blotter | Police find and arrest burglary suspects

Two suspects were arrested at a motel room after reportedly being involved in a burglary in Piedmont. On May 15, two suspects entered a garage on Olive Avenue. A 2012 Vespa motor scooter was taken along with two e-bikes, according to a post on the Piedmont Police Department’s Facebook page.

A suspect vehicle was identified by police and was found unoccupied in a motel parking lot on West MacArthur Boulevard, according to the Facebook post. The Vespa was found nearby.

The post said the suspects motel room was identified and searched. The two stolen ebikes were found along with a loaded firearm. According to the Facebook post, one suspect was on probation and the other had four outstanding warrants.

Both suspects were arrested and taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.


On May 11, a black 2018 Chevrolet Cruze was seen by police driving at an “unsafe speed” and with a broken taillight around 2:05 a.m. on Grand and Fairview avenues, according to Piedmont Police Captain Chris Monahan. The vehicle was pulled over and the driver showed signs of intoxication, according to Monahan, and failed a field sobriety test. The breath sample had 0.17 percent Blood Alcohol Content. The driver was arrested and booked for DUI.


On May 15, police observed a green 2004 Subaru Forester traveling at a high rate of speed and weaving erratically on Grand at approximately 1:55 a.m., according to Captain Monahan. He said the officer paced the vehicle at 42 mph. At the traffic stop, the driver displayed signs of intoxication, according to Captain Monahan, and failed a field sobriety test. He was arrested and booked for DUI.


On May 16, a blue 2025 Audi Q8 was observed by police traveling at an unsafe speed and weaving on Grand, according to Captain Monahan. He said the officer paced the vehicle at 51 mph. A traffic stop ensued and the officer said the drive smelled of alcohol and marijuana. The officer reported the driver could not complete a field sobriety test. He was arrested and booked for DUI for drugs and alcohol, according to Captain Monahan.


On May 12, a gray 2024 Lexus E35 was found unoccupied on Grand. It had been reported stolen from Amador County.
