The Park Commission on May 7 received a check for $5,000 from Piedmont Garden Club to fund a water bottle filling station at the Linda Tot Lot. The play area’s drinking fountain was removed because the sand was clogging the drainline.

Parks and Project Manager Nancy Kent said that the city works with PGC every year to identify projects for the club to support. This year’s donation supports the group’s conservation goal of reducing single use plastic, said PGC’s Civic Projects Committee Chair Sarah Abel, who, along with PGC President Kathryn Pritchett presented the check to the city.
