Who’s that Good Dog?

Family: David and Elle Pico

Pet: Misty MuMu and Poppy Rose

Age: 9 and 7 years old

Breed: Westies

Adoption story: Misty MuMu and Poppy Rose are retired breeding pups from Idaho.  I flew out to Boise and met Misty MuMu and her last, then 5-week old, puppy Wasabi, and then flew back to get her about 4 weeks later when Wasabi was weaned and MuMu had been spayed. Then the family was going to a mission in Panama and asked if we could watch Poppy Rose. We flew back to Boise with Misty and then brought Poppy Rose with Misty back to California. A few months later the family said we could keep Poppy Rose.

Likes: Poppy Rose tends to get into a bit of mischief. She loves to eat. Recently she had to have emergency surgery for a peach pit that was lodged in her small intestine — and we renamed her Peach Pit Poppy. You may have seen her around town with a Fox Tail net around her head to keep her from accidental ingestions. She also likely thinks she is a golden retriever as she loves to fetch. Both Westies love to be held and they love to cuddle. They are adorable when they cuddle together.

Dislikes: They tend to bark at dogs four times their size, especially on-leash. When they are off-leash they don’t tend to bark.

Interesting facts: Both Misty and Poppy have had four litters with Misty having a total of 11 pups and Poppy a total of 19 pups.

Misty is very smart and has unique ways to communicate and get her point across.

Anything else: We are still in touch with their “birth family” in Idaho and they have come out to visit Misty and Poppy here. We think we will be taking a road trip there to bring the pups for a visit over the summer.
