Piedmont races by San Leandro

Piedmont High School’s girls basketball team got another big win in West Alameda County Conference Foothill division play on January 31. The Highlanders raced to a 61-20 over San Leandro in the Pirates new gymnasium.

The win lifted Piedmont to a 16-4 record on the season, 4-1 in WACC Foothill play.

Andrea Martin was again out sick. The Highlanders were easily able to overcome her absence. Jenelle Solis had 18 points to lead all scorers. She also had five assists, three steals and two rebounds. Savannah Dennig scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds for a double-double. She also had two assists. Taylor White had 10 points, six rebounds, four steals and three assists. Brianna Webb had six points, four rebounds and four assists. Shakila Zuberi had seven points and five rebounds.

Alex Forsberg led San Leandro with five points.

Piedmont hosted Weston Ranch-Stockton on February 1. The Highlanders are next scheduled to play at Bishop O’Dowd on February 5.
