Boys soccer | Piedmont beats Castro Valley, 1-0

Piedmont High School’s boys soccer team recorded a 1-0 win over visiting Castro Valley on Jan. 21 at Witter Field. Logan Faucher had the only goal of the match in the 60th minute. Henry Devan helped set the shot up when he sent a through ball past the back line. The ball was tipped by Max Goldfarb and Faucher then slipped the ball into the net from a sharp angle on the right side.

On Jan. 24, the Highlanders suffered a 3-1 defeat at Bishop O’Dowd. The Dragons scored the first three goals of the match including two in the first half. Brayden Barthmaier, Dallas Scott and Ryan Griego had the goals for Bishop O’Dowd. Jacob Glasgow, Jacob Zatkin and Sean Carney had assists.

Piedmont scored after Jacques Saldanha was taken down for a foul. Roman Ahearn took the free kick and got it to Saldanha behind the line to redirect it in for the score.

The Highlanders next scheduled game is at home on Jan. 30 against Hayward.
