Girls basketball | Piedmont routs Campolindo, 65-19

The Piedmont High School girls basketball team routed visiting Campolindo in Binks Gymnasium on Dec. 13, 65-19. The game was part of the Paris Twins Classic.

The Highlanders improved to 5-0 on the season with the win. They are off until the day after Christmas when they will start the SoCal Holiday Prep Classic in San Diego. There, they are currently in a bracket with Beckman-Irvine, Cerritos, West Jordan-Jordan (Utah), Mater Dei Catholic-Chula Vista, Canyon-Anaheim, South Torrance and Heritage-Menifee.

The tournament attracts many of the top schools in California and other states.

Against Campolindo, Piedmont jumped out to a 19-5 lead after one quarter and cruised from there. A 25-2 third quarter obliterated the Cougars. Jenelle Solis made four of eight 3-pointers and scored 20 points to lead the Highlanders. She also had six assists and four steals. Andrea Martin scored 16 points, grabbed 16 rebounds
and had four blocked shots to go with three steals. Cleo Afsar had 13 points and six assists. She also stole the ball five times and added four rebounds. Savannah Dennig had eight points and eight rebounds and also had three assists. Shakila Zuberi had 11 rebounds to go along with six points.
