Letter to the Editor | Yes on P because teachers are pillars of the school community

During my time at Piedmont High School, I have been lucky enough to have Mrs. Black as a teacher both freshman and junior year. Mrs. Black has created English classes that are both academically engaging and a joy to be in. The books we study are brought to life through Mrs. Black pushing her students to look closely through group discussions and essays. On top of that, Mrs. Black finds ways to get students excited about the books we read.

For example, while reading “Lord of the Flies” freshman year, Mrs. Black made sure to keep a conch shell displayed in the classroom as it is a significant symbol in the novel. While reading “The Great Gatsby” junior year, students dressed up as characters from the novel and Mrs. Black threw a 1920s themed party for the class.

Teachers like Mrs. Black are the pillars of the Piedmont High School community. In order to support these teachers, and therefore the students, Measure P must pass. Please vote yes Measure on P!
