Girls Tennis | Piedmont hammers Bishop O’Dowd, 6-1

The Piedmont High School girls tennis team came up with a huge 6-1 win over visiting Bishop O’Dowd on Oct. 10, scoring a key victory in West Alameda County Conference play.

Kate Jumper won a tight match at No. 2 singles, defeating Diya Shah, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Arianna Kortum downed Ayla Akcaoglu at No. 3, 6-3, 6-2. Faith Chin beat Fiona Wood at No. 4, 6-4, 6-2.

The Dragons got their only win of the day at No. 1, where Ashley Carroll defeated Carolina Romanczuk, 6-3, 6-2.

In doubles, Samantha Hyunh and Emma Eisemon beat Sonja Abid and Ileana Adams at No.1, 7-5, 6-3. Emma Chan and Maddie Tran downed Nora Baedeker and Ellie Wong at No. 2, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 3, Inara Mehta and Abigail Call beat Penny Wong and Lauren Choi, 7-5, 6-4.

Piedmont is next scheduled to face Castro Valley at home on October 17.
