A 23-year old man from Pleasanton was arrested for DUI early on the morning of Oct. 6 after the vehicle he was driving hit the center median on Grand Avenue.

The crash was reported at 1:12 a.m. after a loud smash and a screech was heard, according to the police log.

A few minutes later, a vehicle was located with the driver’s side wheel broken. One person was taken into custody after admitting to driving the vehicle, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan. He was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin.

A residential burglary was reported on Oct. 7 on Fairview Avenue. An alarm was reported to be going off at 10:41 p.m. Police arrived and determined someone had attempted to enter the residence by force through the rear door, according to Captain Monahan. He said officers also found the door on the detached garage was open. A neighbor who reported the alarm said they did not see anyone in the area. There is no reported loss.

On Oct. 5, a leaf blower was taken from Wildwood Avenue at 10:46 a.m. The suspect fled in a silver 2007 Honda Civic.

Using video surveillance, police have identified a suspect, “known to” the department. Captain Monahan said the suspect was identified by his probation officer.
