Suspect taken to Santa Rita for narcotics and stolen property
Piedmont Police arrested a male suspect after he was found “passed out” in a stolen vehicle, according to Piedmont Police Department Captain Chris Monahan. Police saw a red Hyundai SUV parked on the side of the road on MacArthur Boulevard at 4:32 a.m. A check of the license plate and Vehicle Identification Number showed the vehicle had been reported stolen out of Oakland, according to Captain Monahan. Officer got the man out of the vehicle without incident. The suspect was found to have a revoked driver’s license due to driving with a suspended license, according to Captain Monahan. He said a search of the vehicle turned up addition violations. The man was taken to Santa Rita Jail in Dublin for possession of a stolen vehicle, grand theft, possession of narcotics and possession of stolen property.


On September 2, a burglary was reported on Indian Road at 12:50 p.m. The reporting party said the burglary had taken place sometime between August 31-September 2. The unknown suspect or suspects forced their way in through the rear door, according to Captain Monahan. The reported loss was purses, wallets and some jewelry.


On September 1, a U-Haul truck that had been reported stolen was found in the area of Leimert Boulevard and Clemens Road at 10:30 a.m. The 2009 Ford E450 was parked and police did a record check and found it had been reported stolen out of San Leandro. The police log reported the truck was damaged but not stripped and it was towed.


Piedmont police also found a vehicle reported stolen on September 1. At 7:09 a.m., police observed a black 2011 Nissan Rogue with no rear license plate parked at Fairmount and Kempton avenues in Oakland. A records check showed it had been reported stolen out of Oakland, according to Captain Monahan. The vehicle was reported to be damaged, not stripped, according to the police log, and was towed.
