Do you bleed purple? Support Piedmont Highlanders athletics via new online store

Getting your hands on Piedmont purple spirit wear used to be a hit or miss proposition, with online team stores taking weeks to fulfill (expensive) orders and no easy way for alums or fans to buy their own apparel.

With the launch of PiedmontGear.com, that’s all changed. Piedmont High School alum and parent Steve Humphries has been using his graphic design skills to develop a unified Piedmont brand across high school sports for some time, and after finding a platform that allows anyone to set up a store for free, he created a one-stop shop for all things Highlander.

“Ever since my partner and I created the current Piedmont Brand identity package, there’s been a strong demand for apparel featuring Piedmont’s epic designs, but not a lot of cost effective options for getting the apparel produced,” Humphries said. “Last spring I came across a platform that made it easy to make all my personal team designs available to our community and soft launched the PiedmontGear.com site. Piedmont Gear is a print on demand apparel service that features general ‘Piedmont Highlander’ branded apparel along with sport specific designs for almost every sport at Piedmont,” he said. Prices for apparel range from $25 to $35 on the website.

Humphries says there are no up-front costs to produce apparel since each sale is printed on demand, which allows for designs to be printed on any number of apparel styles such as unisex t-shirts and sweatshirts, women’s tees, kids sizes and specialty items. The result is that fans have access to a large number of Piedmont-branded apparel offerings in any size that arrive about a week after placing an order.

Humphries says the site has already received hundreds of orders and students are already sporting the gear at school and he expects to start shipping to Piedmont alum around the country.

While the margins on the sales are slim, the money will go to support Piedmont athletics across the board. “Boosters is so excited to get Piedmont Gear up and running,” said PHS Boosters President Keri Elmquist. “Getting product into people’s hands and school spirit building are really the key objectives. Steve’s amazing designs and Highlanders enthusiasm are so appreciated.”
