A Piedmont resident found two people rifling through his unlocked vehicle on July 28. The resident said the suspects left his residence on Crocker in a dark minivan. He described the suspects as heavyset.
The Piedmont Police Department also reported that an individual turned in a handgun for destruction on July 28.
“We will only take unwanted weapons for residents; otherwise, they are redirected to their home law enforcement agency,” Piedmont PD Captain Chris Monahan said. “We probably get about five a year.”
On July 30, a residence reported a break-in on Alta. The report came just before 6 p.m. but the break-in came earlier in the day. It is unknown if anything was taken.
Three calls came in on July 27 about stolen catalytic converters. One was on Magnolia, one on Sharon and the other was on Oakland. All three times the car was a Toyota Prius. Another converter was taken from Prius on July 26, this time on Fairview.
