Piedmont police responded to a stolen car alert close to midnight on August 1 that ended in a car crashing into a home on Monticello Avenue and two suspects fleeing on foot.
From the police account on social media:
Last night, August 1st at 11:30 pm, officers were alerted to a vehicle entering town with a stolen license plate out of Antioch. The plate was attached to a 2-door white 1990 Jaguar XJS. Officers located the vehicle in the area of Park Way and Dracena Avenue. The vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed without lights. Officers observed the vehicle crash into a front yard on Monticello Avenue. Two suspects exited the vehicle and fled into a backyard in the 100 block of Monticello Ave. The suspects were able to climb over multiple fences and evade capture. A search of the vehicle revealed a loaded Walther Arms P22 handgun. The vehicle was also reported stolen out of Antioch PD.
A resident on Park Way told the Exedra that the stolen car was extremely loud as it sped down Park before crashing into the home. The resident said the Monticello homeowners were not home at the time of the crash and damage to the property appeared to be minimal — mostly broken stone on the stairs and patio.
